Cabaret Otaku presents a benefit for an NDK staffer

PLEASE REBLOG!

During the Cosplay & Costume Contest Award Ceremony, a beloved member of our staff had a very public medical emergency in front of a packed Main Events audience. We can’t say enough how much we appreciated everyone’s patience, compassion and cooperation during that time. This was the same day as the fire alarm. NDK 2013 truly saw the absolute best of everyone that Saturday!

The staffer in question, Cosplay Lieutenant Becca Cressler, is home now and recovering. But after ER visits and an extended stay in the hospital, she faces a mountain of bills. The amazing entertainers of Cabaret Otaku are putting on a very special, one night only benefit event for them and we’re helping spread the word!

Here are the details:

Cabaret Otaku presents an evening to benefit the Cressler family, featuring Gian Carlo Menotti’s psychological thriller, “The Medium,” plus a special sneak peek at the company’s cosplay performance team. Described as part Twilight Zone and part Puccini, Menotti’s short stage work delves into the madness of a psychic who dabbles a bit too far into the realm of the undead.

The performance and silent auction (win private Skype calls from Chris SabatEric Vale, Todd Haberkorn and more!) begins at 7 PM on Friday, Oct. 18 at The D-Note, which offers a full menu featuring sandwiches, salads, pastas, and handcrafted pizzas, as well as as full bar. Admission is $15. All proceeds will benefit the Cressler family.

I have this perfect corner in my bedroom that I put all my NDK programs and badges on and it looks badass if I do say so myself (Sorry poor camera quality)

That looks AMAZING!

You guys need to unlock all the characters in Naruto Ninja Storm 3 before NDK that would be awesome, cause a majority of the characters were locked this year

I linked to the VGR part of the forums in the last q I answered, make sure you post this there.

Do you think BlazBlue has a large enough fan base to make it a competition, or just a free play game in the game room for 2014?

That’s a question for our VGR department. :) I do know that we’ve actually had a BlazBlue tournament before. But really, anything we put in VGR seems to do well.

Hello NDK, jsut wanted to say that despite the craziness I had a great weekend. Two questions: Would you guys ever consider having a maid cafe? I think it'd be really cute and fun to participate in! Second question: Is it possible to have more Pokemon-related stuff in the charity auction? I bid on the only piece this year and missed out, and it's the first time I've seen a Pokemon item in the auction in the several years I've attended. :c

1. No. A Maid Cafe has a lot of connotations surrounding it that we are absolutely not comfortable with, especially considering our strict no-harassment policy.

2. We’re limited to what is donated by industry, attendees and guests when it comes to auction.
